Additional Unit Follow-Up
In my "Juking the Stats" post, I said the duty activity of Unit 7 for most of the month of May seemed to overlap too much with Director Clase being on duty. Here's a follow-up, as I now have the dispatch records for that time period.

In the screenshot above, there are 3 orange circles. These circles are the dates in which the on duty/off duty status coincided with another unit going off duty earlier than normal and then Medic 7 appearing for what would have been the rest of the other unit's shift. So those three circles appear to be Medic 7 operating as what it is reported to have always been, the backup unit when another unit experiences an issue.
The other days, however, were the shifts that did not line up with that scenario, which would be the theoretical additional unit that Commissioner Murtaugh said was going to be staffed during the day.
If you looked at the J&C article, Director Clase is quoted as telling their reporter: "The seventh truck we added, we put it on from 8 to 4, because traditionally that's very busy".
If you look at the above chart, you can see a few things:
Very Few Total Shifts: Outside of the 3 orange circles, this unit only appears to have had an additional shift on 10 out of 31 days of the month, less than 1/3rd of the month. Is that really an additional unit being staffed? Or did they simply approve some overtime until people stop paying attention?
Low # of Runs Done:
Units 1 - 4 are the main units and run pretty much always 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Units 5 & 6 appear to normally work a 12 hour shift
Unit 7 works an 8 hour shift.
Some of these days where Unit 7 appears for a shift there are only 1-2 runs being done in an 8 hour shift. This is disproportionately lower than the other units for the length of its shift. Is it inappropriately stationed for taking calls, or does it not really have an appropriate crew and some other shenanigans are happening?
